Dr. Ali Said Al Hashmi is a senior technology executive with over 26 years of experience in Cloud and Telecom. He specializes in network infrastructure, digital transformation, and strategic planning. Dr. Al Hashmi has proven expertise in managing large-scale technology initiatives, vendor contracts, and automationdriven operational efficiencies. He is known for his strong leadership in designing and executing technology roadmaps, fostering innovation, and driving cost optimization. Dr. Al Hashmi is also managing the 5G program in Omantel and is a member of the Oman 5G national group. He played an active role in planning and designing the first 5G network in Oman, which has deployed more than 25,000 5G sites so far. He is also responsible for the design and deployment of the first FTTx and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) in Oman, to support 5G core (NSA/SA) and upcoming 5G use cases, such as Internet of Things (IoT), network slicing, and ultra-low latency and reliability (uLLR). Dr. Al Hashmi holds a PhD in operation and strategy management in the telecom sector from Strathclyde University, Glasgow, UK; a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Strathclyde University, Glasgow, UK; a Project Management Masters Certificate Program from George Washington University; and a Degree in Telecommunication Engineering (BEng.) from Coventry University, UK. He is a visionary leader, a strategic thinker, and a passionate innovator in the field of telecommunication.
